RENOWNED nursery woman Marina Christopher was July guest speaker, the topic ‘Late Summer Flowers’. As well as showing examples of desirable and unusual plants that flower naturally at the end of the season, Marina explained how to extend the flowering period of other plants. It was good to see live plants used as illustration rather than slides.

Group member Kathryn Elrick Smith kindly held a coffee morning at her Worcester home. The garden has a strong rural feel and members enjoyed exploring the different areas, as well as the usual social aspects.

Open to celebrate the HPS 60th Anniversary, Linda Marsh’s beautifully designed Cheltenham town garden attracted both members and non-members. The newly planted shady front garden contrasted with the bright intense colours used to the side and rear of the house.
