THE President welcomed members to our Resolutions meeting held on 11 May.

Before moving on to the business, and the eagerly anticipated fish and chip supper, we were able to hear a short presentation from Alison Hewitt and Brenda Spain, who had come to talk to us about The Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, which is a charity helping those diagnosed with breast cancer, both women and men. Alison has been in this position and benefitted from charity, and Brenda is a fund raiser for the charity. The charity is based at the new Breast Care Unit at Worcester Royal Hospital, and aims to take the work of the Unit forward, by assisting with breast care needs, by providing clinical services, assistance and complementary therapy over and above what the NHS can offer. This means that support for those with breast issues can be provided under one roof.

Moving on to the business part of the meeting, members were reminded of the lunch at Working World, an open meeting at Littleton’s WI and a lecture on Forensic Science in July.

A Strawberry Tea at Hampton Farm Shop and a visit to the Delphinium Confetti Fields at Wick, are being arranged for later on in the summer.

Hampton had won the flower arrangement competition at the recent Croup Meeting, with an arrangement in a sea-shell, created by Ann Evans.

Before moving on to discuss the Resolutions, there was a break for refreshments, fish and chips from Hampton Chippy.

Finally there was discussion on the two Resolutions to be discussed at the National AGM in Liverpool in June: Alleviating Loneliness; and Plastic Soup – aiming to keep micro plastic fibres out of our oceans. Votes were taken with a show of hands and each Resolution received unanimous support.

Next month's meeting will be held at Ecgwin’s Club in Evesham, due to Hampton Community Hall being used for the General Election. Our speaker will be Alan Brewer, whose talk is entitled Up in the Clouds with Fluffy Bits.

If you would like to join us at one of our meetings you would be made most welcome. We usually meet in the Hampton Guide and Scout Community Hall at 7.30 pm on the second Thursday of each month. For further details please ring 01386 443755.
