DESPITE Andy Murray being on centre court we had a good turnout for our July meeting – maybe the ladies were escaping Euro 2016? Anyway everyone was kept thoroughly amused and entertained by Alan Thornton who told us of his experiences in running a hotel in Weymouth in the 1970’s and 80’s. Some of his stories could have been featured in ‘Fawlty Towers’! Final details were announced for our boat trip in August and then our planned outing in November to Waddesdon Manor, Bucks to see the house dressed for Christmas were announced. This should be a spectacular experience and get us in the seasonal spirit, although it is hard to think about Christmas on a sunny July evening.
