We were pleased to welcome a good turn out to our AGM this month.
Both the Annual and Financial reports were received very well.It was
explained that the Open Gardens last summer had enabled us to donate
generously to two charities, Thrive and the Evesham volunteer
centre.Time was devoted to electing three new members onto the
committee, one of whom Mike Cook ,is looking forward to taking on the
role of chairperson. In order to make arranging the club outings more
straightforward an amendment was suggested by Alison to our
constitution regarding the collection of club monies. This was carried
unanimously. Those members retiring from the committee were thanked for
their hard work over previous years.
Business was followed by a surprise fun quiz, which was of course garden
related and even though we all enjoyed doing it some of us will need to
revise before doing another one!!!!! White radishes were mistakenly
identified as salsify by many. Our newly elected chairperson not only
gave us the correct answers but also added lots of interesting information .
The long awaited 'plant, seeds and skill swap ' scheme was introduced
and hopefully will become an enjoyable part of our monthly meetings.
The next meeting will be in the memorial hall on Thursday !st of March
when Famous local author Joan Bomford, who was Country File's personality
of the year 2016, will join us to talk about 'Her life on the land '.
As always we would welcome anyone interested to come and join us in
Bretforton. Please contact the club secretary Barbara Jenman on 01789
