On a lovely May evening when winter suddenly had become summer with no intervening spring, the members met at the White Cottage, Stock Green. This garden, owned by Mr and Mrs Bates, is a perfect picture with established island beds, mature trees and hedges and perfect lawns. The members enjoyed an evening of sociable chat while viewing the well grown plants and were able to buy some examples. The tea and cakes included were gratefully received.

The June speaker will be Michael Brown, the famous Historic Gardener, who will give his talk on poisonous plants entitled Death in the Garden. This will be on Thursday 7th June at 7.30pm at Jubilee Court.

On Sunday July 8th the club is running a coach trip to two very different gardens in Herefordshire. The first is Brobury Garden, a private, Victorian garden and then on to Westonbury Water Mill Gardens, an exuberant water garden nearby. Places are limited and the price is £22 for members and £24 for guests.

Any enquiries can be made to the secretary on 01789 765105 or Hilary.morgan@talktalk.net . Meetings take place at the Centre, Jubilee Court, accessed via Lea Close Alcester, usually on the first Thursday of the month. Everyone is welcome and there is a small charge for guests but this does include refreshments.
