Rissingtons Local History Society event on Friday 19th January 2018 at 2.30pm.
Wrecks to Relics - The story of Mulberry Harbour - an illustrated talk by Paul Barnett on the D Day flotilla of concrete ships that played a vital role in the success of the Normandy Landings. Paul is an ex Royal Marine, and has spent a lot of time researching Purton and his connection to the nations greatest amphibious assault of the beaches of Normandy during Operation Overload. Saved only by history itself, our little concrete fleet had so much to say and yet remained tight lipped until now!
Venue Great Rissington Club GL54 2LW. Visitors welcome £3.50 to include refreshments. 01451 820233.
