President George Bourne extolled the excellent spread and service we had received last week at the Three Ways House Hotel at Mickleton for our annual lunch.

Our speaker this week was our own John Redman of Harvington who had been asked, as are all new members, to describe his life story. John has had an extremely varied life as well as the temperament to constantly take on fresh challenges.

He spoke about growing up in Manchester, his family and his happy childhood. By the age of seven he decided he would become a Civil Engineer, which he achieved and stayed in that profession for many years before branching out into different areas of work, including antique dealing.

Meanwhile, throughout their married life, he and his wife embarked upon buying, improving and selling a number of family homes until they settled in Harvington. Inevitably, he became embroiled in local life and is particularly proud of his involvement with others in the refurbishment of the village hall.

Following questions, Richard Lawrence thanked him and remarked upon the diversity of skills and achievements amongst us.

We look forward to hearing about Tax, Care and Toyboys on 7 December followed on 14 December by our Club’s Christmas Party.
