OUR September meeting was well attended by members and guests, who were well entertained by Richard Baldwin, talking about vegetable growing in a small garden. Richard gave practical information about growing vegetables in pots and other types of container, together with advice on the best growing medium for the different types of plants.

Our October meeting, scheduled for Wednesday 25 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall is an illustrated talk entitled "Wildlife in the Garden" by Mr D J Cramp. This is the penultimate meeting of the year and club members will be invited to make nominations for new committee members for 2018, which will be an agenda item at the AGM in November. We look forward to seeing you all.

The Club however, is extremely sad to learn of the sudden and unexpected death of our Club President, "Tiny" (Derek) Hadley earlier this month. He had been a club member for many years, and an active and supportive President who will be sorely missed, not least in his role as President, but a kind and helpful friend to everyone. We send our sincere condolences to his wife, Anne, and his grandchildren.
