Eckington WI’s October meeting was a Harvest Celebration. It was a members only evening where we enjoyed a Harvest Celebration Supper prepared by Helping Hands. A delicious two course meal taking advantage of locally sourced seasonal produce included a seasonal vegetable filo pie, with an alternative chicken in wine dish, followed by a seasonal fruit salad and superb apple pie. All very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. After the supper, we had a knock-out conker competition; an elimination game which ultimately led to a ‘one hit showdown’. Unfortunately after several rounds of successful knock-outs, there was no final one hit champion so the competition was drawn.

Business was kept to a minimum with members being reminded of our forthcoming Coffee Morning, Lunch and WITCH as well as details of other local and County events. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 1 November, 7.30pm with ‘Thoughtfully Wrapped’ with Alan Keech providing timely advice on how to wrap those awkward presents, and in particular bottle gifts. Visitors welcome £4 (bring a bottle to wrap along with gift paper if you want to follow his lead!)

As always, more details of activities, past, present and future can be found on our website, www.eckingtonwi.weebly.com or follow us on Facebook. Email: eckingtonwi@gmail.com.
