AUGUST should be a quiet month for our WI members as there is no official meeting but somehow we seemed busier than ever. Maggie Steadman lead walkers on a delightful stroll from Barton to Dorsington on a beautifully sunny morning and the weather was equally beautiful when a large group visited the Cotswold Distillery near Shipston-on-Stour. It was a fascinating afternoon rewarded at the end by samples of the award winning gin, whisky and liqueurs. Meanwhile the members of the Knit and Natter and the Sewing groups were putting finishing touches to items for the Made in Pebworth stall at the Party in the Park on Sept 10th. And it was all hands to the pump for this biennial event where the WI tea tent was busy all afternoon serving famous home-made cakes and tea and raising £900 for the church and village hall. Before we’d had time to recover, it was the monthly meeting when Paul McGuire arrived with numerous cassettes to test our musical knowledge of the 60’s onwards. Not only did we recognise the tunes, we knew all the words too!
