AN Evesham firm is the latest sponsors of a major art project set to bring giant giraffe sculptures to Worcester's streets this summer.

Karndean Designflooring is supporting the Worcester Stands Tall project that will see eight foot tall

sculptures appear around the city’s streets, parks and open spaces for 10 weeks this summer.

The firm is sponsoring one of the fibreglass giraffes which will be decorated and displayed on a trail along with 29 other sculptures.

St Richard’s Hospice has recruited the creative group,

Wild in Art, to set up the 30 giraffes and last week businesses and organisations came together at the Hive to view 100 shortlisted designs for the project, which the Worcester News is a media partner for.

The art trail will run from July 9 until September 16, culminating in an auction where each sculpture will be sold to raise money for the hospice. The money raised will go to St Richard’s Build 2020 Appeal - aiming to expand and redevelop the hospice's Wildmoor Drive home.

Smaller, giraffe calf sculptures decorated by school children will also be on display during the trail in Worcester’s Crowngate Shopping Centre.

Paul Barratt, managing director of Kardean Designflooring, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of Worcester Stands Tall in partnership with our friends at St Richard’s Hospice.

“We’ve been supporting St Richard’s Hospice for many years now, and we’re proud to be a part of their new community art project."

Sara Matthews, Worcester Stands Tall project manager, said: “We’re delighted to have such a respected business as Karndean on board with our project. The level of support from the business community has been fantastic. We’re excited to work with companies based across Worcestershire."
