BUSINESS leaders from across the county are being invited to a free breakfast seminar being held at Worcester's Sixways Stadium.

Redditch firm Workforce Staffing is hosting the seminar where experts will be discussing how businesses can protect themselves and their clients against tough new data protection laws.

The general data protection rules, also known as GDPR, relate to laws surrounding the storage of personal data, and are being introduced on May 25.

The free event will take place at the stadium this Thursday. It begins with breakfast and a networking session at 8.30am.

The seminar, will cover all key topics on GDPR with speaker and industry specialist Jeff Brookes also providing a Brexit update.

Organisers Workforce has recruitment centres in Redditch, Worcester, Kidderminster, Dudley, Rugby, Coventry, Solihull and Birmingham.

The firm specialises in supplying trained staff for sectors including logistics, transport, professional services, office, food manufacturing and manufacturing.

Paul Alekna, chief executive of Workforce Staffing, said: “There are huge implications for businesses here in Worcester when the new laws come into force and this seminar will be essential listening for any business leader who wants to be aware of the pitfalls in the run up to May.

“GDPR will be a massive change for companies of any size in how they store personal data, which could be anything from home address details to financial information.

"There is going to be a big burden on maintaining the process and many are unaware of the financial penalties if they are found to be non-compliant.”

Spaces for the Sixways seminar are limited, and places are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
