Dormy House Hotel St Richards Hospice Broadway

FUNDRAISERS will mark the end of an era on Wednesday as they hold their last large-scale event at a Cotswold hotel.

Supporters of St Richard’s Hospice have used the Dormy House Hotel in Broadway to host charitable dinners and gatherings for the past seven years.

The hotel is about to undergo a multi-million pound renovation which will see its banqueting suite transformed into a spa.

While fundraisers will continue to hold smaller events there, they are now searching for locations in the Broadway area that could cater for 150 people for a sit-down meal.

Their last large-scale event at the Dormy will be a celebration choral lunch on Wednesday, October 24.

Tricia Cavell, director of fundraising at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We need a venue in the Broadway area that could host over 100 people and we seem to be struggling to find that.

“It could be a large house or a barn, or if someone is having a marquee that we could use on a day they don’t need it.

“If there’s anything you think would be helpful to the hospice, we would urge people to get in touch.”

The Dormy will close in Spring next year to undergo major refurbishment work on the original farmhouse and re-open later in the year.

General manager David Field said: “The hotel has had refurbishment over the years but we’ve never closed before. It’s been in the family for over 30 years and now they’re getting it ready for the next 30 years.”

Guests at the St Richard’s Hospice lunch will be entertained by North Cotswold U3A choir after a two-course meal.

The cost of the lunch is £29 per person and more information is available from Sonia Woolven on 01386 852211 or swoolven@btinternet.com Anyone who can help provide a venue should call St Richard’s Hospice on 01905 763963.
