A STOW couple have written a new book tracing the incredible story behind the London Olympics.

London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games: the Official Commemorative Book traces the story from early preparation to the creation of the Olympic Park, the Torch relay and the Cultural Olympiad.

Written by Tom Knight and his wife Sybil Ruscoe, of Back Walls, the 300- page book explores both Games in detail through photographs, quotes and statistics.

The couple, who are both in their 50s, have a wealth of experience of sporting events. Tom has covered nine Olympic Games and has been The Daily Telegraph’s athletics correspondent for 10 years while his wife has been a sports journalist since 1978 for radio, television and newspapers.

“Tom and I have worked a lot in sport,” said Sybil.

“To be able to work on our home Olympics was an absolutely amazing experience. It was the most memorable reporting assignment of my entire life.”

The book, published by John Wiley, also includes a foreword from Sebastian Coe.

The book will be launched at The Golden Ball Inn, Lower Swell. this evening from 5pm to 8pm and can be bought for £20 on the night.
