Church renovation unveiled

AN historic Cotswold church will unveil its £40,000 renovation to improve disabled facilities this weekend.

Batsford Church, situated on the edge of the Batsford Arboretum, near Moreton, has completed the improvements and Bishop of Tewkesbury John Went will dedicate the new facilities on Sunday at 6pm.

The £40,000 was mainly raised through a series of grants from Gloucestershire Historic Churches and other private trusts.

However, churchwarden Heather Holliday said it had been a lengthy process to get the disabled facilities installed, due to the church being a listed building and there being a number of consultees such as English Heritage which were required to have their say.

Having been rejected by planners, the application was allowed on appeal.
