SHOPPERS in Chipping Norton were treated to an afternoon of jazz over the weekend.

Chippy Jazz and Music, Chipping Norton Rotary’s annual event held in venues around the town, returned for its 15th year with a mixture of free jazz, swing, blues, gipsy folk jazz and gospel music on Sunday.

This year’s event saw performances from Ken Freeman, Fiddlebop and the Chipping Norton All Stars along with the Chipping Campden Swing Band. Committee member Mike Howes said the day was very sucessful.

“The Chipping Norton All Stars made it a cracking start,” he said.

“And thankfully the rain held off. The most interesting thing was the range of visitors, with people coming from Texas, Hungary, Austria and South Wales.”

Proceeds will be split between The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, St Mungo’s, Riding for the Disabled and Rotary charities.
