Gardening taster
8:00am Sunday 7th October 2012 in News
FANCY a spot of gardening and helping youngsters learn about how things grow?
Then you may just be what Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is looking for as they need volunteers willing to help put in the hours at Lower Smite Farm, near Junction 6 of the M5, near Worcester.
The cottage garden and veg plot is used to help schools and community groups educate people on the importance of planting for wildlife, the life cycle of plants and the benefits of growing your own food.
The trust is running a taster day on Wednesday, October 17, from 10am until 3pm, during which there will be a “garden blitz” with pruning, weeding, hedge-cutting and making good footpaths.
People should bring a packed lunch and wear outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear.
After the taster day, the gardening group will meet every other Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone interested should call 01905 754919 or e-mail dominique@worcestershire wildlifetrust.org. For details visit worcswildlifetrust.co.uk/ volunteer.
