New play area for village
5:00pm Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in News
A VALE village has celebrated the opening of a new play area.
Sedgeberrow Parish Council has been working on the project for five years and members unveiled the new playground with the help of Richard Morris, chairman of Wychavon District Council.
The revamp cost about £20,000 and was designed by villagebased firm Leaves of Green. The playground now has a basket swing, a roundabout, a wooden tower, a slide and an outdoor table-tennis table. A safety floor was also laid. The original swings were kept.
Money for the project was raised locally, alongside a £10,000 Wychavon Community Grant.
Maureen Pratt, chairman of the parish council, said: “This play area had become quite run down and we needed something for the children at this end of the village.
“The table tennis has been very popular with everyone, both the youngsters and the adults.”
