Toasting school’s new facilities

HUNDREDS of visitors flocked to the Cotswold School to celebrate the opening of its latest facilities.

Over the summer holidays, the school had a £2.3 million facelift including a 10-room maths block, an enlarged, canopied courtyard area, an extended dining hall and a state-of-the-art commercial style teaching kitchen.

To celebrate the school hosted ‘The Big Toast’ – a festival of local food and drink – along with music from the school’s jazz band Back in Black.

The new teaching kitchen was officially opened by Rob Rees, ‘The Cotswold Chef’, and chairman of the School Food Trust and Children’s Food Trust.

The new kitchen facilities cost more than £100,000 to build with substantial funding provided by the Savoy Educational Trust.

Headteacher Will Morgan said: “Our new facilities enhance the learning and teaching environment for our wonderful students and talented staff. The facilities are also here for the benefit of our community at large. I am delighted we have been able to join with the wider community to celebrate in this way.”
