Schoolgirls mark a new era
12:00pm Friday 14th September 2012 in News
THESE Kingham Hill School girls squeezed into a mini to mark the start of a new era.
With their current lodgings bursting at the seams, a third girls’ boarding house has been opened after one of the oldest buildings at the school – Durham House, which dates back to 1886 – was converted.
There are now more pupils at the school this year than at the end of the last and 40 per cent of thems are girls.
Headmaster Nick Seward kicked off the official opening and introduced chairman of governors John Richardson, who spoke glowingly of the positive impact made by girls at Kingham Hill during the 20 years since the school became co-educational.
Housemistress Carol Heath said the girls were delighted with their new home.
