ORGANISERS of two village events in the Cotswolds have been toasting their success.
A Fine array of fruit and flowers were on show at the Icomb Show on Saturday, September 1, despite earlier concerns the show may not go ahead because of concerns over the weather.
Cups were awarded for displays of fruit, vegetables, flowers, cookery and handicrafts. Eight-year-old Daphne Bennet won the children’s flower cup, with the adult cup going to Sylvia Armstrong.
Meanwhile, the bells will be ringing again in Wyck Rissington after £5,800 was raised at the village fete. Attractions included a falconry display in memory of Barbara Cheales and music by Paul Maguire and friends.
Visitors enjoyed feasting on Old Farm sausages, Toby Collett’s bread rolls and ice-cream from Winstones. The money raised on the day will be split equally between the Church Bell Restoration Fund and Village Hall Maintenance.
Veron Woodford, fete committee chairman, said: “Our retuned bells should be back and rehung before Christmas, it will be great to hear them after 10 years of silence.
