Plans for old pub site to be revisited

PLANS to convert a disused pub in Moreton will be revisited by Cotswold District Council next Wednesday.

Proposals to transform the empty Grade II listed Wellington Inn, which dates back to the early 19th century, into six new homes and build one new house were deferred at the planning committee’s last meeting in August.

Planners were concerned over the highway situation along Evenlode Road and the safety of the new access and called for a site inspection.

Last month the Journal reported that Keri Dobson- Grey, agent and daughter of the applicant, was “flabbergasted”

over the council’s decision and feared the pub was at risk of falling further into disrepair.

Following the meeting on August 8, the applicant lodged an appeal against the deferral with the Planning Inspectorate which will now rule on the plans.

The pub shut in 2010.
