Residents surveyed on benefit scheme
5:10pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in News
COTSWOLD residents are being asked to give their views on a new locally-run council tax benefit scheme.
The public consultation, held by Cotswold District Council and all the other local authorities in Gloucestershire, got underway on August 10 and runs until Friday, October 5.
As part of the Government’s welfare reforms the council tax benefit scheme will no longer exist in its current form but will be replaced by the new scheme which would come into force next year.
Government funding for the scheme will be reduced by about 10 per cent.
Gloucestershire councils will need to find money to offset the reduction in funding and will be seeking the public’s views on ways of reducing the cost of the scheme. The survey form can be downloaded at cotswold.
