A WORCESTERSHIRE walking trail has been officially relaunched following a £25,000 makeover.

The 40-mile Wychavon Way, which starts in Droitwich and passes through Pershore before ending in the Cotswold village of Broadway, was originally devised in 1977 to mark the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.

Thirty-five years later, in the year of the Diamond Jubilee, the walk has been updated by Worcestershire County and Wychavon District councils.

Improvements include better signage and historical information points along the route and updated route maps and guide books.

A launch ceremony was held at Vines Park, Droitwich. Councillor John Campion, the county cabinet member for localism and communities, said: “The Wychavon Way is one of the county’s jewels in the crown when it comes to walking routes.

“I’d like to express my thanks to everyone involved, including the dedicated volunteers, who have played a part in turning the plans into a reality.”
