So glad to have been part of the Games
12:00pm Monday 20th August 2012 in News
A VALE woman who has spent the past few weeks working hard as a Games Maker at the London Olympics said she was very glad to have been part of the event.
Maureen Spinks, of Badsey, near Evesham, volunteered to help out at the Olympics and was selected to work at the beach volleyball arena in Horse Guards Parade.
Her main duties were scanning tickets and showing people to their seats.
She told the Journal about her experience, saying: “The arena was located almost on the Prime Minister’s doorstep in central London.
“It provided an iconic location for the competition and certainly had the wow factor when spectators arrived for the first time. From the arena, you could see the London Eye, Big Ben, the Shard and just about every Government building of importance.
“It was hard work, but I was very glad to have the opportunity to participate in London 2012.”
