THIS is the tree that has been planted in Campden in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Chipping Campden WI presented a tree for the Ernest Wilson Memorial Garden to commemorate the special occasion. The tree, a Chinese tupelo, was originally introduced into Britain by the celebrated plant hunter Ernest Wilson, who was born in Campden in 1876.
A spokesman said: “The small and delightful walled garden in the centre of Campden is a haven of tranquillity for many visitors throughout the year, and is open from dawn to dusk.”
Pictured from left are Basil Hart, garden curator, Jean Leigh, Ann Taylor, chairman of the Garden Trust, and Chris Porter of Campden WI.
