Recycling centre is a ‘mess’

CONCERNS have been raised over the recycling centre in Bourton after complaints from residents.
The recycling point in the Rissington Road car park is run by Cotswold District Council and accepts hone and garden waste.
At a recent parish council meeting, councillor Helen Macklin said the area was becoming a problem due to people leaving waste on top of the bins or alongside them rather than pushing it through the slots.
She said: “I’ve had two parishioners come up to me about the recycling.
One lady was so disgusted she took it home. It does look a mess. It’s all over the place.”
Vice-chairman Richard Johnes said: “People just dump it on the top. They aren’t pushing stuff through the slots into the centre. It’s more about the people recycling than the design.”
Council clerk Sue Cretney said she would contact CDC to see if it had a solution to the problem.
