EVESHAM’S first steam rally in 32 years was a great success, say organisers.
About 300 exhibitors and 14 steam engines were stationed in Corporation Meadow and helped to raise £500 for Wallace House in Evesham.
Co-organiser David Wothers said: “It went very well. People were streaming in, although the rain on Sunday did put a bit of a dampener on it. We made enough money to break even and raise some money for the mayor’s charity.
“It was an excellent weekend. We are hoping to hold another next year and bring the tradition back to the town centre on a more permanent basis. We had great support from Wychavon District Council, Councillor Diana Raphael and Pete Bott Skips so hopefully we will again next year.”
