The torch continues to light up our lives

IT has made its way around the country and is now burning in the Olympic stadium.
But the Olympic flame is still inspiring people in the Cotswolds and has raised more than £120 for charity.
Staff at Cotswold District Council raised the money for the chairman’s chosen charities when they turned out to an event on Friday.
The torches were provided by Councillor Jenny Hincks and her daughter Kate who both took part in local relay events in May.
They donned their official Olympic Torch Relay uniforms again and brought their torches into CDC’s headquarters so that officers and their families could pose for photographs.
In return, the officers were invited to donate to Gloucestershire Young Carers and the local branch of the Stroke Association, which are supported by chairman Councillor Sir Edward Horsfall.
Coun Horsfall said: “This is one of many fund-raising projects I have in mind, and I am very grateful to the staff for getting things under way in grand style.”
