Artist meets the Olympic ‘bladerunner’
3:00pm Saturday 28th July 2012 in News
AS the Olympic Games begin for most they are coming to an end for Broadway artist Jeremy Houghton, who has been painting some of the greatest stars of the Olympics in his role as a BT Olympic Artist.
During the two-year run up to the event, Mr Houghton has painted athletes including sailor Ben Ainslee, wheelchair basketball player Ade Adepitan, Evesham rower Alex Gregory, and the ‘bladerunner’ sprinter Oscar Pistorius.
All the paintings are being sold in aid of Paralympic sport charities after they have been up for all to see around different venues.
Mr Houghton said: “I feel as if I have lived and breathed the Olympics for two years.
“I’ve painted some exciting athletes over the past two years but Oscar Pistorius has got to be up there as one of the most inspirational.
“To be the first person to compete in the Olympics and Paralympics in the same year will be a truly amazing feat.”
