AN historical item housed in a Stow antique shop has been voted most popular object by the public in a competition to find the country’s most interesting artefacts.
Christopher Clarke Antiques won the People’s Vote for its Captain Blackwood’s Waterloo Trunk. The winners were announced in an Object of the Year competition in Country Life magazine.
It is thought Robert Blackwood had the trunk with him at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The nameplate is engraved ‘Capt. Blackwood 69th Regt.’
