Money for Matt

A GROUP of friends who completed a 1,400-mile bike ride from Rome to Evesham in April have smashed their fund-raising target.

The All Roads Lead to Evesham cyclists hoped to raise £20,000 in memory of Matt Brace, who died last year who died in an attempt to jump from a tree following a dinner at Evesham Rugby Club.

But it soon became clear they would far exceed this and they changed the target to £29,000, meaning they could completely fund a new piece of equipment for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s neurological department.

They recently received a further boost when building firm Taylor Wimpey donated £500 to the cause.

Adam Huttlestone, team leader for the cyclists, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Taylor Wimpey and everyone who has sponsored our cause.

We are still receiving donations from the public, which is wonderful.”
