Police ask desperate caller to make contact

Gloucestershire Police are urging a man that called them asking for help this afternoon to get in touch.

At about 12.38pm officers received a call from an audibly upset man stating that he was going to harm himself in his vehicle.

Hugely concerned for his welfare officers traced the phone call to the Bourton area and carried out a number of searches, including using the police helicopter, however the man has not been found.

There is a possibility that the call made was a hoax, however Police need to ensure this is the case and that the man is not in urgent need for help.

The person that made this call is urged to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101 so that officers can ensure he is safe and well.
