IT is a special year for the Chipping Norton Town Festival, which will mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in fitting style.

The free event will take place on Sunday, June 3, from 11am and promises something for everyone.

Visitors can look forward to live music, vintage cars and children’s fair rides along with face painting, market stalls and the chance to take part in the Big Lunch.

The diverse musical lineup will include local musicians and special guests playing rock, pop and jazz as well as world, folk and classical music.

Highlights include Ric Sanders of Fairport Convention, classical harpist David Watkins, award-winning guitarist Craig Ogden and Dance à la Plage, a band tipped by BBC Introducing as one of the freshest bands to look out for this year.

Paul Aitken, executive director of the festival, said: “The festival celebrates all the talent and creativity that abounds in Chipping Norton and is a really good day out for everyone.

“Last year was a great success.

It brought over 2000 people together for a day of fun, entertainment and live music and we’re really looking forward to an even bigger event this year.”
