GARDENS large and small in Pershore will open to the public this weekend.

As part of the National Gardens Scheme, 15 plots can be viewed between 1pm and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday for a combined admission charge of £5.

They include hidden gems tucked away behind Georgian town houses, gardens sweeping down to the Avon, tiny courtyards vegetable plots with cider sheds and a primary school garden where refreshments will be available.

Today, the walled garden of Whitcombe House in Overbury, near Evesham, will be open from 5pm to 8.30pm. Admission at £6 includes a glass of wine and nibbles. For details, go to ngs.org.uk.
