  • "Oh please... Not the Jubilee Stadium. It's bad enough that they've named the new park in Bengeworth "Jubilee Gardens". Enough with Liz and her jubilee already!"

Your views on stadium name

JOURNAL readers have come up with some interesting ideas in response to a call for suggestions for the name of Evesham United FC’s new stadium.

Readers have given their views on names suggested in last week’s Journal as well as coming up with a few of their own.

The Robins’ Nest, Simon de Montfort Stadium and the Asparagus Arena were popular but Cheltenham Road and Duc D’Orleans Ground failed to capture the imagination.

Sue Nightingale suggested Greenfields as she walks her dog in the area and is always struck by the beautifully kept fields around the new ground.

Julie Jinks suggested a more historical name. Robbins Ground would be named after R E Robbins, who was a market gardener on the land where the new ground stands.

Visitors to eveshamjournal.

co.uk, Roadside10, came up with a number of ideas including Avon Park and the Evesham Town Arena, whereas John Bissett liked the idea of The Asum Arena and added that he couldn’t wait to walk through the turnstiles at the new ground.

Meanwhile, Mike Dudfield thought that the ground should have a more regal name – the Jubilee Stadium – to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.
