HORSE lovers who decended on Countrywide’s Bourton store to enjoy an equestrian event also raised cash for disabled riders.

About 300 horse lovers, riders and owners in and around Gloucestershire flocked to the store to take part in its annual equestrian bargain bonanza on October 12.

Those who visited the event were excited to see National Hunt jockey Robert ‘Choc’ Thornton who was on hand to answer questions relating to horse racing and also to sign autographs.

Visitors were able to take advantage of expert equine advice throughout the day, including nutritional and worming tips. Many local businesses were also in attendance.

Visitors who took part in the raffle helped to raised £125 for The Riding for the Disabled Association. The lucky winners won an array of donated prizes including a family ticket to locally renowned Countryfile presenter Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park and meals at local pubs.

Deputy store manager Ian Hall said: “Having a famous jockey like Choc Thornton attend our event was really special and helped to make this event even more successful than previous years.

“We would really like to thank all of those who helped to make this event the success that it was and look forward to seeing everyone again next year.”
