Man in court following gyrocopter death of hunt supporter

A MAN has appeared at Birmingham Crown Court following the death of a fox hunt supporter who was killed when his head was struck by the blades of a gyrocopter.

Bryan Griffiths, aged 55, has denied a charge for the manslaughter by gross negligence of Warwickshire Hunt supporter Trevor Morse at Long Marston Airfield on March 9 last year.

The jury heard from the prosecution on Tuesday that Mr Morse, of Alderminster, near Shipston, had been trying to stop Griffiths, who had been monitoring the hunt from his gyrocopter, from taking off again after he stopped to refuel.

It is alleged the 48-year-old refused to move out of the way as Griffiths, of Wiltshire Close, Bedworth, Warwickshire, who owned the gyrocopter, moved towards him in the aircraft and the rear propeller cut Mr Morse’s head from top to bottom.

The trial continues.
