Police arrest two men following alleged assault in Bourton


POLICE arrested two men following an alleged assault in Bourton High Street.

They were called to a disturbance at about 7.45pm on Saturday, February 6 and spoke to a 42-year-old man who said he had been assaulted in a fish and chip shop.

The man said that, upon leaving the shop, he was pushed into the shallow River Windrush and assaulted again, suffering a cut lip.

Police officers attending also received reports that two men had caused a disturbance on the Green.

They arrested two males, aged 19 and 21, on suspicion of affray.

The 21-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and criminal damage.

Officers bailed both report to a police station on Monday, March 8.

Police want to interview anyone who was in Bourton village centre between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on February 6 and witnessed the incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to telephone Gloucestershire Constabulary on 0845 090 1234, quoting incident 404 of February 6.
