Campden chef in line to win national pub grub award

A CHIPPING Campden chef has been short listed to win a national award for his pub grub.

Indunil Upatissa, head chef at Campden’s Noel Arms Hotel, has reached the final of The Pub Chef of the Year competition.

He is one of three chefs to reach the final of the national competition, organised by Pub Chef Magazine.

Numerous chefs from across Britain entered the competition by submitting recipes to judges, who chose Indunil and two others to compete in the final in Leatherhead, Surrey.

Indunil, who entered the competition in October, made a Sri Lankan lamb curry in the final.

He and the two other finalists will attend an awards ceremony in London on Thursday, March 11 where they will learn which one of them has won.

Indunil, who came third in a national Oriental cooking competition about two years ago, said: “I’m very happy.

“It’s good for my career.”
