THE Heythrop Hunt had a disappointing end to its annual New Year’s Day gathering in the North Cotswolds when freezing weather prevented its members from riding out.
About 80 riders un-boxed their horses at Broadwell and rode into Stow for the Heythrop’s traditional gathering in Market Square.
However, with the cold weather preventing them from riding out, they were forced to return to Broadwell to re-box their horses.
Hunt secretary, Guy Avis, said: “We couldn’t hunt because of the weather.
“It was so icy that it was dangerous for the horses because they slip on it.
“It also makes the hounds’ feet sore.”
