THE work of two of England’s finest wits will feature in a mix of musical sketches, short plays and monologues to be performed at a charity event in Shipston.

An Evening with Joyce Grenfell and Alan Bennett will be staged in St. Edmund’s Church, Church Road at 7.30pm on Friday, November 20.

Popular local act Velvet Glove, comprising Margot McCleary and Beverley Abson, will perform some of the “tastiest pieces” by the late actress/comedienne, Joyce Grenfell, along with two monologues from Talking Heads by author, actor, humorist and playwright Alan Bennett.

Pianist, Lisa Curtlin, will support Velvet Glove, who will also present some of Margot’s original stories.

The performance will be in aid of St Edmund’s and the League of Friends of Shipston Hospitals.

Tickets, costing £8, can be purchased on the door or in advance from Wyntors Curtain Shop, High Street, Shipston; telephone 01608 661238.
