BARTON-on-the-Heath’s annual Fete on the Green went with a swing, raising lots of money for the parish church and other good causes in the village.

Many people attended the event at which Debbie Arthur and her band played jazz while people enjoyed games, afternoon teas, a barbecue, bar, Gladiators Inflatable Arena and stalls selling plants, nearly new clothes, handbags and other items. It is not yet known how much money the event raised, although the plant stall alone generated £400.

Suzie Coker, a member of the organising committee, said: “It went extremely well. We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout. Everybody seemed to enjoy the jazz and a great many cream teas were eaten.”
