Alcohol centre may shut

CHIPPING Campden’s St Saviour’s alcohol rehabilitation centre could close because it is no longer needed, say the people who run it.

A resolution to dissolve St Saviour’s will be considered at the charity’s special general meeting, to be held at its base in the Old Police Station, High Street, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, August 4.

David Crampton, the St Saviour’s trustee serving as its treasurer, said the closure resolution was tabled because many alcoholics now got help from the NHS.

“There isn’t the demand for it any more,” he said.
