YOBS have so badly damaged Moreton Rangers Football Club’s premises that the building has got to be demolished.
The latest of several recent break-ins at the London Road clubhouse saw vandals cause £1,500-worth of damage after forcing a side door to enter last Friday night.
They smashed pictures, emptied cupboards and left junior football kits strewn around the floor.
Moreton Rangers’ vice-chairman Paul Luker said the club had planned to demolish the dilapidated building anyway and was trying to raise £125,000 to build new changing rooms.
Mr Luker said the vandalism had forced him to board the building up three times in the past fortnight.
He said: “It’s kids not being kept an eye on. It’s a minority but they are spoiling it for hundreds of others.”
He urged people to help tidy up the club from 9am on Saturday.
There have also been several recent burglaries at Moreton Cricket Club, Batsford Road, the latest one seeing intruders smashing a window to enter on Friday. Several bottles were stolen.
A police spokesperson said: “It is upsetting that people would damage property used by a large part of the local community.”
