ALAN Noyce has been re-elected Mayor of Shipston following the death of his wife.

Angela Noyce, 72, died of an illness shortly before she was due to become Mayor for 2009.

A Shipston Town Council meeting consequently unanimously voted for Mr Noyce to serve a third successive term in office.

Coun Simon Welch was elected Deputy Mayor.

Mrs Noyce had been due to succeed her husband after serving as his deputy during 2007 and 2008.

She had previously been Mayor in 2004 and 2006.
