BELLRINGERS in the north Cotswold village of Brailes are creating a bit of a ding dong by baring all for a charity calendar.

And they are not the only ones to strip in the village, where various tradespeople and local groups have undressed to raise money for Cancer Research.

Organiser and mobile hairdresser Jane Bennett appears in the buff with four other fellow health and beauty colleagues, including local hairdresser Lois Dudfield, Brown Owl with the First Moreton Brownies and a member of Moreton Town Council.

"Not everybody agreed to do it and a few people who initially said they would backed out later on," said Jane.

But Jane is delighted with the calendar, 1,500 of which are on sale at £10 each.

"I will be happy if we can raise £12,000 to £13,000 for Cancer Research," said Jane, who added that two assistants at the village school had died from cancer in the past 18 months and a local man, who appears in one of the photos, has recovered from testicular cancer.

"Although calendars like this have been done before they are not done in the same way. We wanted to put Brailes on the map and show what the village has to offer," said Jane.

The Brailes calendar is on sale at various shops and pubs in Brailes, Tysoe, Cherington and Shipston.

The elderly club members, who come from Moreton, Blockley, Chipping Campden and Longborough, had Christmas lunch at The Wellington pub in Moreton.

Sister Sked has run the weekly luncheon club since her retirement from the hospital in July.

She said that the club is a "worthwhile activity".

"The ambulance brings them in once a week on a Thursday and they have coffee, play games and then have lunch. It keeps their minds active," said Sister Sked.
