HARTLEBURY Castle will be holding an open day for people interested in becoming volunteer house stewards at the attraction.

Information sessions will run on Thursday, March 1 at 11am and 2pm and will give people the chance to find out more about the role, with a brief talk about the history of the Castle and a tour of key rooms where the house stewards will be based.

As part of Hartlebury Castle’s HLF funded transformation, previously unseen historic rooms will be opened to the public for the first time.

Stewards are needed to assist visitors as they explore these, welcoming them and sharing information about the Castle and those who lived there.

Jacqueline Smith, volunteer co-ordinator said: “We realise that sometimes people like to know more about a role before they sign up to volunteer.

“The sessions are a chance to ask any questions, see the site, and meet other potential volunteers. It’s an ideal opportunity to see if the role’s for you.

“There are many reasons to volunteer; it’s a chance to meet new people, try something different as well as being a great way to keep healthy.

“Anyone interested in becoming a House Steward is welcome to come along to the open day, we’d love to meet them.”

People are invited to turn up to the open sessions or, if they can’t attend, visit www.hartleburycastle.com or call 01299 250797 for more information.
