THE family of a man who died in a crash near Moreton has issued a tribute to him.

Twenty-four-year-old Alastair Blair Campbell, from Gloucester, died when the blue Yamaha motorbike he was riding crashed into a blue Toyota Auris on the A429 at about 7.30am.

His family said: "Alastair was born in July 1993 at the British Military Hospital in Rinteln, Germany.

"Better known as Ali, he went to Harewood Junior School when he moved to Gloucestershire with his family from Hampshire, when his dad finished his army service.

"He then went to Central Technology College for his secondary school, following this up at Gloucester College where he passed his Public Services Level 3, reaching CSM in the Army Cadets as part of his course.

"Ali, loving the forces, also Joined the Air Cadets at the age of 13, (and did both at the same time) on Eastern Avenue (181 – City of Gloucester Squadron) – and after five years volunteered as an adult instructor.

"He finally qualified last week as a sergeant adult instructor and was so proud. He achieved his silver flying award, and his Duke of Edinburgh awards, where he excelled in training the younger cadets.

"He loved riding his motorbike and often rode with his friends to motorcycle meets. He passed the police Advanced Motorcycle Training course and always wore the correct protective equipment.

"Ali loved cadets, mountain walking and biking, motorcycling and making things. He worked at INTECH G T Smith Engineering Ltd in Moreton-in-Marsh and recently qualified as a fabricator/welder.

"He was the most caring, gentle, thoughtful soul; a real family man who was passionate about his Scottish heritage to the point of buying the Campbell clan tartan kilt and almost full dress, which he wore as much as he could, including the celebration of Burns’ Night with his family where we toasted a ‘wee dram’ of whisky.

"He will be sorely missed by his family and wide circle of friends, and forever in our hearts."
