THEATRE-lovers across the area are invited to back a campaign supported by the likes of Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ben Kingsley.

The Theatre Chipping Norton is hoping to replace its 15-year-old seating and its old wooden floor.

Supporters, among them Toby Jones and Greg Hicks, can no sponsor seating and floorspace to help bring the venue into the 21st century.

Spokesman Sheena Drainer said: “The wooden floor of The Theatre is full of holes, patches and wobbly bits.

“As regular visitors will know, the squeaking of the seat hinges is enough to put anyone off.

“It’s time to do something urgently.

“Could you help provide brand new, beautifully presented and padded seating for a modern audience and a gorgeous new, hard-wearing floor?

“Not only will it make your visit more enjoyable, but it will help to make some of the awkward seats along the sides of the auditorium much more comfortable.”

People can visit The Theatre’s bar from January 2018 to view a demonstration model of the new seating.

Supporters can sponsor a named seat for £250, a box for £800, the front row of the stalls for £2,000, the front row of the balcony for £2,500 and £100 for one sq m of flooring.
